Common Objections to Universal Reconciliation
It has been my experience, so far, that when someone objects to the message of universal
reconciliation, they don't do it to be contrary or difficult, they do it because they really believe the
message is erroneous.  As I did, myself, about 8 years ago.

Why do people object to the message?  I am actually having a hard time right now, trying to come
up with an answer to that question because there are so many varying beliefs on the matter. So,
help me out here...why would one object to universal reconciliation?  You can email me at
debbieboutwell@hotmail.com or leave your answer on the
contact page.

Why would anyone object to God creating a plan to have everyone bow their knee to Him?  You
may be thinking...
"well, if that was what God did, I wouldn't object but the Bible seems to say
otherwise."

A few years ago I had someone write out their objections  and send them to me. I have absolutely
no doubt that they only had my good in mind.  I am going to list some of those objections here and I
will respond to how I see them in light of Universal reconciliation. That may help explain the basics
of the message more than just laying it out any more that I have already on thIs site.  Carlton
Pearson's article is what got me started with this message and that is why he is referred to in these
objections. I reiterate ..his message got me started, that doesn't mean that I embrace all that he
teaches today. I'm not even sure what all he teaches today. This will be no short project.  In the first
objection, alone, there are many angles to consider. Needless to say this page will remain in
progress for a long time. :)

Please keep in mind that God has invited us to reason with HIm so don't think that we are incapable
of knowing right and wrong. Some seem to think that He thinks of us as a bunch of "mindless idiots".
Do you think God would ask a mindless idiot to REASON with Him?  Me either.

Objection 1.

One is not saved simply because Jesus died for them, but rather because they believe on Him and
Him alone.

1. I believe what Jesus said, “You must be born again.” That is contrary to Brother Pearson’s
teaching. He believes that the new birth is not necessary for salvation.

2. We are saved (born again) by grace thought faith.

I suppose the very first thing to address is what we mean by "saved".  Here in the Bible Belt "saved"
means missing Hell,  and, I feel sure that is what my friend is referring to here.  As for my definition
of saved, I believe, as he does, that it is missing out on God's wrath.  My idea of God's wrath,
however, is a  "whole nuther" ballgame.  We should be able to determine if the idea is just mine or,
if it really does come from God's own Word. You want to know?

John 3:36 says..He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the
Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

This verse seems to be ever so plain to the people who believe in endless Hell. I can just hear 'em,
"OK, there you have it, How can it be any plainer than that?"  Let me ask you, what was the
condition of
"He that believeth" BEFORE he believed?  Was the wrath of God on him? How long?
Until he believed?  Remember what Paul about being carnally minded?

Romans 8:6 For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace.

I heard one of the late, Adrian Rogers' sermons on the radio last night and he made the statement,
" Every atom in the universe is against the man who is rebelling against God."  I say a hearty amen
to that. I believe all of creation is in "cahoots" with God....God and creation have a common goal
and that goal is to bring men to the end of themselves and point them straight to Jesus.  Isn't the
ole Devil even called the "prince and power of  the
AIR"???  Yes, he is. ( you know he IS one of God's
creations, don't you?..Why do you suppose He created Him?)
Aren't we told to be watchful because the
devil prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour?  Yes, we are.  Didn't Paul tell
the men at Athens that God has created them to "
find" Him?  Yes, he did. Here's what he said:

Acts 17:26-30  26 And hath made of one blood all nations of men for to dwell on all the face of the
earth, and hath determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation;
27 That
they should seek the Lord, if haply they might feel after him, and find him,
though he be not far
from every one of us:
28 For in him we live, and move, and have our being; as certain also of your
own poets have said, For we are also his offspring.
29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of
God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and
man's device.
30 And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men
every where to repent:

How many men?  ALL.     Where are these men?  Everywhere.

Romans 1:18  For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and
unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
I  think Brother Adrian was right!

I just want to say right here, if you are fighting God, stop it and run to Him who will save you from
your own stubborn self and the wrath and judgment built into our system. It is still a fearful thing to
fall into the hands of a LIVING GOD.....  Call on the Lord and be saved!

Now, I realize the fact that before I started looking into U R, I just skimmed over verses in the Bible
without really seeing what they were saying. This one in particular, which speaks of a group of
people who were purchased by the blood of the Lamb but were blatantly going against everything
that Christ was. Consequently, the "harvest" they will reap will be dreadful to say the least. Here is
that verse:

2 Peter 2:1  But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false
teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies,
even denying the Lord that
BOUGHT THEM, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

Isn't that amazing?  Even the false prophets sins are paid for....What a Savior!! Can you begin to
see that there is a PURPOSE behind the wrath of God?  Jesus said, the wrath of God abides on
those who do not believe.  Why? Could it be so they
will believe? I think so. OR, could God's
purpose be just to show the stubborn sinners that they were wrong so they are going to be burned
forever without even the blessing of dying?   Reason....

The idea of wrath with a purpose seems to agree with many of the scriptures that talk about
all
being reconciled to God and about the restoration of
all things, and, especially what Jesus, Himself
said about His mission to this earth that was to climax with His own death on the cross....and, thank
God, His RESURRECTION!  Here is what He said:

John 12:32 -33  And I,  if  I be lifted up  from  the earth,  will draw  all  men unto  me. This  he said,
signifying  what  death  he should  die.

OK, let's reason. Can John 3:38, listed above, agree with John 12:32, IF, the wrath of God means
eternally burning in Hell, never to get out?      YES__     NO
 X

If Jesus is going to draw (drag in Greek..check it out) all to Himself, then Hell cannot be endless or
the particular Hell we have been taught about does not exist.  You may be thinking , but Jesus
said...
John 6:44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I
will raise him up at the last day.
Indeed, He did  and He alone knows when each individual has truly
realized that he is totally bankrupt without the Lord. God is not a fool! He showed Nimrod and his
gang of builders that they weren't about to build a tower to Heaven. He is the one who knows each
intent of our hearts. He knows if we are the Pharisee who boasts about how "holy" we are, or, if we
are like the publican who bows his head in shame, begging God's mercy and forgiveness...  He
knows.
more later...my eyes are closing....
